A new mix

I know that we’ve been quiet here at the Soup Factory, but it doesn’t mean our chefs aren’t busy cooking up stuff for the summer and your listening pleasures.

First off, our very own Krisco has done a mix for you! He’s mixed up some nice liquid rollers, perfect for those chill summer vibes. You can head over to his Mixcloud to listen or his Soundcloud to be able to listen and download it. I know for myself, I’ll definitely be downloading it and it’ll very likely be in regular rotation in my playlists over here.

Secondly, we’re just waiting on a few technical things for our 3rd track and our long awaited 4th EP will be finally out. I know it’s been a while since we’ve released anything, but as we all know, life gets in the way and things happen. You can go listen to the preview from Krisco and Smooths over on our Soundcloud. You won’t be disappointed.

Hang tight, it’ll be soon!

cheers 🙂

Artist Profile – Krisco

Well, we’ve added yet another chef to our kitchens here!

He’s been around in the Winnipeg Drum & Bass scene since the early 2000’s, and after taking a few years off from the scene, he’s back with some awesome tracks for your listening pleasure.

Head over to his Soundcloud to take a listen!

Krisco - Bio Pic

Krisco started DJ’ing in the early 2000’s. His first gigs taking place on jungle nights at The Avenue in downtown Winnipeg. Over the years he stayed heavily involved in local DNB scene. Collaborating with many others, putting on events and weeklies such as the legendary Extra Strength Saturdays at the Die Maschine. He later found himself branching out to other genres and held a residency with Winnipeg’s notorious House/Techno outfit, Symptom Technologies. Now, after a few years away from the scene, he is focused on the production side of things and has gone back to his true love of Drum & Bass.

SFR002 is out!

Sorry for the late in the day post everyone, but life happens, cars are pains in the ass and so on. But I’m not here to talk about that…

I’m here to say, the day is finally upon us!

SoupFactory Record’s 2nd EP is out! This one features tracks from Whupass, uewpeap & Smooths.

All 3 of our chefs have very different styles for your listening pleasure, so head on over to our Bandcamp page and take a listen. Don’t forget to hit “Buy Now”, for $3 you can have 3 more awesome tracks, cheap!

Gotta help each other out

The best way to get promotion is by helping each other out right? Well, my dear friend Garret is a fantastic DJ and producer based out of Saskatoon and he’s asked that I help him promote his DJ page on Facebook. So, after sending out a bunch of invites, (well, as many as I could cuz we know a lot of the same people), I’m coming to our lovely blog to help him out some more.

So, please go give j.a.DJ a like! Here’s his Soundcloud for your listening pleasure.

And I’d like to say welcome to you new likes! Keep promoting, we have a few things up our sleeves but you’ll have to stay tuned 😉

Uewpeap – Artist Profile

We’ve added on another chef into our kitchens here, some of you old school Winnipeg party people would have known him as a part of Phreshlyspun (alongside Desimal, Thor, and Phrawzty), but we here now know him as Uewpeap.

Richard Foreman (a.k.a. uewpeap) began writing electronic music in the early 90’s on an atari 1040st running “Digicomposer”, a 4-track DAW that created Mod Files. After quitting the metal band “H.C.E.”, he decided electronic music was his passion because he ctrae-headshotould write whatever he wanted without argument. Just before the turn of the millenium, he started performing under the name “Traemelo” with a group of incredible musicians that performed under the moniker of “phreshlyspun”. Soon after this, Richard faded into the seedy Winnipeg underground for many years, but continued to produce while lacking proper inspiration. In 2014, Fueled with a new resolve, he has returned to the world of Drum and Bass under the pseudonym “deadman” (uewpeap) to bring forth Old-School flavour with New-School Production Techniques.

Head over to his Soundcloud to hear some of his awesome tracks and mixes.
